Stamps be gone !

Yes you have read that correctly ! No stamps used on today's project ! I'm sharing my DT project for the current challenge theme over at Frilly and Funkie. Pamellia is our lovely host and here's what she has to say:

How would you decorate your project if you didn't own any stamps? Embossing folders, stencils, or perhaps a little hand doodling? Well, let's put it to the test for this challenge. Other than a small sentiment, I would ask that you use no stamps at all on your vintage or shabby chic creations.

I rescued this beautiful photo of my Mum from a disastrous project from a workshop I did earlier in the year.  I wanted to give it a good home so I decided to centre my project around it.

I started with a canvas and flipped it over and taped around the edges with masking tape.

I gave everything a coat of Gesso.

Then spread some Wendy Vecchi Crackle Paste around the edges.

I used a Dylusions stencil on the canvas itself, love the crackled hexagons !

I then started to glaze by mixing Fresco Finish paint with Satin Glazing Fluid. I used Buff to start with then moved onto Moccha Mousse and then finally Chocolate pudding. By using a glaze it means the colour sinks into the crackles.

I used the Tim Holtz Lace stencil then using Gesso rubbed it over the canvas to knock back the stencilling.

I seem to have skipped the photos of the next few steps so here we are at the final version ! I did more stencilling across the centre and knocked it back using Gesso mixed with a little of the acrylic paint.

I made one large flower using the Tim Holtz Jumbo Tattered Flower die dipping the card into Victorian Velvet Distress Stain. I painted the rest of the paper flowers with the same colour.

The word 'remember' has been stencilled using the Wendy Vecchi Classic Words stencil.

I covered the photo then spritzed the canvas with Lindy's Stamp Gang Moon Shadow Gossamer Gold spray.

The bird cage has been painted then I've rubbed Treasure Gold over it and I've also rubbed Treasure Gold over the bird too.

I hope you get chance to join us and do make sure you hop over to the Frilly and Funkie blog to check out the rest of the DT's fabulous projects.
