Touch of Gold !

I'm back today to share my DT project for the current challenge over at Frilly and Funkie.  The lovely Georgie is our host and has chosen a Touch of Gold.  Metal elements, glitter, embossing powder, paint, ribbon, whatever it is lets see a splash of gold in your vintage or shabby chic projects!

I started by painting Gesso over my journal pages and when dry I spritzed the pages with water and sprinkled Ken Oliver Colour Burst powders in Lemon Yellow, Pthalo Green and Ultramine blue and let them mingle together, spritzing again with water to get them to run together. Then I got out my Dylusions paints and rubbed various colours with my finger over the pages. Not wanting to waste any paint I decided to do the circles thing by pressing the mini blending tool on to the page, mopping up the paint from my craft sheet. I added the letters using the Wendy Vecchi Alphabets stencil with her black embossing paste. Then used the Old Ledger stencil and also the Yikes Stripes stencils.

I didn't take any in between photo steps as the process kind of took over ! I added some more stencilling using a TCW stencil to bring it together. Then used a Stabilo pencil and roughly drew around the circles, with a damp brush I blended the pencil to create the dark outline.

I used Gesso to paint over the circles to give them some shading and also used my finger and rubbed more Gesso over various places on the page. To add my touch of gold I replaced the Alphabets stencil over the letters and then rubbed Florentine Treasure Gold over the top of the letters. The photo doesn't pick it up all that well but there is a lovely golden touch. The sentiment is from the Dina Wakley Handwritten Quotes stamp set which I thought was rather apt for this page !

I had a piece of circular foam on my work desk so used this to add some white circles then used a lid from a hair mousse can dipped in Little Black Dress Fresco Finish paint to create the black rings. To frame the whole thing I used a little Black Marble Dylysions paint on a mini blending tool and lightly rubbed it all around the edges and for my final touch of gold I spritzed the page with Lindys Stamp Gang Golden Doublooms spray, which you can just about make out on the above photo.

I hope you get chance to join us for this challenge and do make sure you hop over to Frilly and Funkie and check out the rest of the DT's fabulous projects.
