Layer it up !

Hello and welcome ! We're kicking off the second week of the Frilly and Funkie challenge today, and the lovely Nancy is our host, here's what she has to say:

Our theme for the next two weeks is 'Layer it Up'. Let's add dimension this time around. Simply create any type of vintage or shabby chic project featuring multiple layers.

I love to work in layers so this challenge was a pleasure to lose myself in !

For the first layer I covered a deep canvas with Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap and then gave it a coat of Glue 'n' Seal to protect it from the layers of paint.

I then gave the tissue wrap a coat of watered down acrylic paint.

Another layer of Tissue Wrap was added but this time torn part way around the canvas.

The dandelions were stamped onto tissue paper and then glued onto the canvas. I then used the Tim Holtz tape measure stencil with Wendy Vecchi's gold embossing paste and added some Wendy Vecchi crackle paste through the Tim Holtz tile stencil around the corners and the sides of the canvas.

For the main image I used a tag that was on my craft table and painted it with acrylic paint then used the Tim Holtz Wild Flower stencil with more acrylic paint. I stamped the Yvonne Blair flowers then painted them with Gold Fresco Finish paint. The script stamping is done using Leaf Green Archival ink.

For the text I made a large tile by glueing white card to some greyboard. I stencilled the card using the Tim Holtz Wild Flower and Tile stencils then stamped the text which is another Yvonne Blair stamp with black Archival ink. I then sponged Little Black Dress and Gold Fresco Fnish paint around the edges.

I assembled all the pieces and used a Petaloo flower which has been sprayed with a Lindys Stamp Gang spray. The metal embellishments have been brushed with Treasure Gold.

To make the flowers pop a little more I used a black Stabilo pencil and a damp paint brush around the shape of the flowers and I also did the same around the lower corner of the tag.

The gold on the flowers worked really well to reflect the lifht and add some shimmer.

The stamens in the centre of the Petaloo flower have also been brushed with Treasure Gold.

One final shot of the lovely crackle around the corners, love Wendy's crackle paste !

I hope you get chance to join us for this challenge and do make sure you hop over to the Frilly and Funkie blog and check out the fabulous DT projects.
